Description
The Violin Sonata No. 4 in A minor, Op. 23, is a three-movement work for violin and piano composed by Ludwig van Beethoven in 1801. It was published in October of that year, dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries, and unlike the first three sonatas, Sonata No. 4 received favorable reviews from critics.
As the composer Beethoven himself is among the great composers known as the '3B great composers' (Beethoven, Bach, Brahms), performing Beethoven's works is always challenging. While there are calm and beautiful melodies like in the Romances, this piece, which reveals Beethoven's character more in the Sonata with its extreme forte-piano sections, is charming, and I have practiced and performed it more from the pianist's perspective.
